‘Breakout’ Workshop/Project (Ages 5-11)

Breakout Details
We are now taking applications for Immediate Theatre’s summer holiday project: Breakout! It is a free program to young artists ages 5-11.
 
Through an everyday theatre intensive, the company will stage a full-length theatrical production with a professional creative team. There will be opportunities to create a new play, build props and costumes, and collaborate with other young creatives in the Hackney area. It provides a unique experience as a stepping stone for young people to showcase their talents, and will culminate in a public showing of the production.
 
To apply, you must  
  • Have an interest in theatre, performing, or behind-the-scenes work
  • Be fully available to participate in the entire program and performance dates

Skills Workshop – Adults

Join Herts Inclusive Theatre for a skills workshop for adults. At this workshop, participants will develop their theatrical skills through games, script work, and devising. These sessions are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all.

 

When: First Workshop – August 15th, 1pm-2:30pm / Second Workshop – August 22nd, 1pm-2:30pm

Tickets for this skills workshop are pay-what-you-can. There is no minimum or maximum to pay for the sessions, and any payment made will be considered a donation to Herts Inclusive Theatre. There is a suggested donation of £5.

‘Exposure’ Workshop/Project (Ages 13-19)

Exposure:
Through a 2- week intensive, the company will stage a full-length theatrical production with a professional creative team. To take part, you must:
  • Be aged 13-19
  • Have an interest in theatre, performing, or behind-the-scenes work
  • Be fully available to participate in the 2 week program and performance dates
The project will explore:
  • The Greek tragedy of Echo and Narcissus, adapted for a contemporary audience
  • A play set in an art-gallery, with a moving audience
  • Immersive and interactive performance techniques in a Promenade setting
The outcomes for young people would be:
  • Work with a professional playwright, director, and designer
  • Create a world-premiere play for a live audience
  • Collaborate with other young creatives and make new friends
  • Have the opportunity to develop drama skills and performance techniques
  • Explore themes of leadership, kindness, and humility

‘Limitless’ Workshop/Project (Ages 14-25)

Hackney Shed and Hackney Empire are looking for performers aged 14-25 for our Summer Project “Limitless”. Focusing on young people with SEND and neuro-divergent young people, but open to anyone who is passionate about collaborating with others. Using music, theatre, dance and design we will create an original play to be performed at Hackney Empire.

Dates/Times: Tues 20 August – Fri 23 August (11am–5pm)

Date/time of Performance: Fri 23 August 4pm

Ages: 14-25 years fore-fronting the talents of neuro-divergent young people with those with SEND

Our 10-day summer program caters explicitly to Year 6 pupils, providing them with a fun and engaging platform to explore various topics related to acquiring new skills, managing risks, building friendships, and adapting to changes. We utilize the creative arts, including music, dance, drama, and art, to facilitate learning and encourage active participation.

By incorporating these innovative approaches, we aim to equip young individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the challenges and opportunities that arise during their transition to mainstream secondary education.
